Vote Hugo Rojas

for West Basin Water Board 2024

Meet Hugo M. Rojas

Centinela Valley School Board President, Non-Profit Leader, Three Time Karate World Champion, and Labor Champion

I am grateful to announce my candidacy for West Basin Municipal Water District Division 5. I was born in Lima, Peru, and at the age of 4, I moved to Hawthorne. During my early years, I attended Hawthorne Schools while also studying the martial art of Karate. In my early 20’s the Mayor of Hawthorne appointed me to the Anti-Gang City Commission, during my tenure my leadership was showcased. Consequently, I founded and served as Chairman of the Hawthorne Youth Commission for ten years.

During my tenure, I founded The California Youth Karate Club. Our Non-Profit focuses on hiring Karate Instructors and providing free Karate Classes to Hawthorne Students and students from surrounding school districts. This has led us to form tomorrow’s leaders through the discipline of Karate.

This led me to be elected to the Hawthorne School Board in 2001, where I championed students, teachers, classified workers, and parents. After eight years, the Hawthorne community uplifted me to get elected to the Centinela Valley School District where I oversee Hawthorne, Lawndale, and Leuzinger High School.

As Board President of the Centinela Valley School District, I have led the fight to change countless lives by improving our public education system. That is why today leaders you trust support my campaign!
